DREAMER'S NEWSLETTER
April 2006

Dear Dreamers,

With the launch of my latest book Divine Complement less than two months away, I am pretty busy these days with promotional and marketing tasks.   Five years of writing compared to the 3 months it took for my first book Ariadne's Book of Dreams, helps you to understand the amount of research that has gone into writing what began as one book and turned into two. The second book, Divine Complement Forever is in the editorial revision stages and thanks to my two editors Toni Robino and her soulmate Doug that book will be ready to come out in December.   Keeping in touch with my long list of friends and dreamers from around the world has gone by the wayside for the most part, so I decided that I would write a newsletter to catch you up.

To learn all about my new book being launched in two months visit:   http://www.ariadnegreen.com

My Next Labyrinth Walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 16 at 5 pm and the labyrinth below the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua, Maui.   We will meet at the Chapel parking lot at 4:45 if you are not sure how to get down to the labyrinth.

For those interested in what my new book is all about, I will be on "Let's Talk About Love with Eve Hogan" , on Tuesday Evening, April 18 th from 7 to 8 PM on Akaku Ch. 52.   Tune in and call in for a fascinating discussion on the "divine design" of soulmate relationships.

Walking the Labyrinth

Stepping into the dimensions of your dreams

A powerful symbol for the 'journey within' is the labyrinth. With its winding path that leads to the center and out again traversing back the way we came, the labyrinth suggests a full circle return to our root--to the core-self. In the Greek myth about the labyrinth, Ariadne led Theseus on a heroic quest to slay the Minotaur, the half bull half man chained at the labyrinth's center.   The secret identity of the Minotaur is in his name Astrid--meaning, "star".   Therefore, the quest into the labyrinth can represent the journey to liberate the authentic self, the stellar radiance we all carry within us.

Like the path of the labyrinth, dreams offer us avenues for self-exploration and growth.   Our journey takes us into the subconscious, a creative field with many images, symbols and archetypes all assembled for our wholeness.   Like that journey into the labyrinth the experiences derived from dream work help us to excavate and retrieve disowned parts of ourselves so that we may become more authentic, whole and true to ourselves.   The characters of our dreams often express parts of our identity that we may not wish to acknowledge, parts we have buried because they weren't validated by early experience, and those with hidden talents that we thought we didn't possess. Chained at the center of the labyrinth these parts may be shadowed in shame or buried beneath pseudo identities. For instance, our true sexual nature maybe disowned, suppressed, shadowed or defiled or our true personality may be masked by who we think we should be like. Through initiatory dreams our sexuality may be liberated so that the creative potentials of spiritual power can rise again and our authentic self illuminated so that we can embrace ourselves.

What does it mean if in my dream someone has chopped down my favorite tree and left it only a stump?

Trees can represent wisdom, growth or life itself. Sometimes a tree can represent yourself. In this case, your dream may comment that someone has "cut you down to size". In otherwords, chatized or critcized you to the point of complete humiliation. It may take some time to recover from the cutting statements of someone who wishs to put you down to make themselves look big. Trees that have been trimmed can also represent the cutting off of old growth, ideas or projects that have outlived their purpose. A trimmed tree can then represent that you are letting go of the things that aren't necessary to your goals.

Walking the Labyrinth continued......

As we journey through the labyrinth of our dreams we notice we confront some of the same familiar patterns that have denied us fulfillment.   Like walking a labyrinth, we pass the same territory over and over again, confronting recapitulating themes or emotions that harm our self-worth. If we hold a view of ourselves as not beautiful for instance, our dreams may point out our low self-concept with scenes of trying on clothes that are stained or torn. With every dream we are given an opportunity to develop new insights into what beliefs work and which ones don't so that we can shift our way of thinking and embrace ourselves more.    Self-knowledge is the task that dreams put before us and seems to be the key to ultimately loving oneself.

Dream Precepts

Precept 1

Every single dream is of service to the dreamer. It is important to look at every symbol and element as if one were savoring the separate flavors in a meal.

Precept 2

Every dream has an intended message and meaning for the dreamer. Sometimes it is the conscious mind of the dreamer that fights against receiving the dream's message.

Precept 3

Dream language is beautiful, meaningful, poetic and pure. In most cases, each symbol in a dream acts as a metaphor for a larger idea or is an understated truth about what one feels or believes.

Percept 4

All character of a dream are equally important. Characters may play more than one role. The characters in dreams do not necessarily represent various parts of our personality. They can, however, mirror parts of our soul brought as messengers in the dream.

Precept 5

Dreams are good. Therefore, here is nothing to fear in a dream. Even our worst nightmares may come as a powerful warning of conflicts that demand resolution within the psyche.

Precept 6

Dreams are valuable gifts to be opened and cherished. Dreams are treasures from the depths of the soul, jewels of meaning unearthed from the subconscious. Each is full of symbolic information that needs to be investigated and appreciated.

Percept 7

Dream wisdom tells us that we need not seek to control our dreams and we need not be controlled by them. Dreams come from a wise and intelligent source. Lucid dreamers who attempt to master their dreaming life by redirecting the dream's course toward their desired outcome may be defeating their dream's purpose.

Precept 8

Dreams offer the keys to wisdom about the self. Dream dictionaries are a tool. Our dreams unlock the secrets within the subconscious whose meaning may be veiled from the conscious mind. A dream dictionary can offer us valuable insights into what a symbol may mean in a general sense. Applying intuition can add more.
